Bio
Devoting his entire life to the Arts, John Torina has traveled and worked in twenty countries exploring the beauty ,mystery and poetry of the landscape. After earning his BFA in painting at the Memphis Art Academy and a MFA at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Torina went on to teach painting, life drawing and art history at five universities for two decades.
Working on location his oil paintings range in scale from the intimate 11”x14” to the grand 8’x10′ A number of highly respected galleries have and are representing his work.
He has been the recipient of academic honors, excellent critical reviews and museum exhibitions.
Since 2014 Torina has put down roots in Costa Rica with his family and has been very prolific inspired by its natural wonders.
